An Old Map of Stoughton in 1775

        This map was produced originally by the Stoughton Historical Society in 1929

The Historical Society has endeavored to identify the old buildings and cellars represented on this map, and the following is a brieft summary, giving

present day locations and information gathered, which may interest the many readers and help preserve the historical data.  This streets in 1775 were

presumably cart paths, and for a clearer understanding we have put the present day names.

Of the one hundred and twenty-five placed represented there are over forty of the dwellings in existence (in whole or in part) and the

Society has secured over fifty pictures.  

The town of Avon, originally called "Curtis Corner," has been listed separately.  It is hoped that through this publication errors may be detected and corrected, and that further information may be forthcoming concerning the very early inhabitants of the town.
